1984
CSP advises Reagan White House on first U.S. commercial space policies
CSP supports President Reagan’s 1984 State of the Union address announcing plans to develop an International Space Station, testifies before Congress, and advises NASA’s Office of Commercial Space Policy on the development of the first U.S. commercial space policies.
1985
CSP partners in the development of SPACEHAB – the first company to develop, own and operate crewed space vehicles
In December 1995, Spacehab becomes the first commercial space company to IPO. Between 1993 and 2007, Spacehab modules fly 22 missions aboard the U.S. Space Shuttle fleet, conducting experiments, supporting construction of the International Space Station (ISS), and transporting ISS payloads from Earth to orbit.

CSP establishes Tel Aviv office
CSP assists the leading Israeli contractors to develop indigenous space and missile defense capabilities.
1986
CSP launches Space with investment bank L.F. Rothschild, providing the first regular analysis of commercial space investment opportunities
Space becomes a monthly publication, later sponsored by Shearson Lehman. This publication introduces CSP to U.S. investment banking and senior financing markets.
1987
CSP Japan Established
CSP partners with Shimizu Construction Corp. to create Japan’s first space consulting firm, serving Japanese industry and government clients. Over the next decade, CSP Japan establishes itself as the leading provider of commercial and civil space advisory services in Japan.
1988
Company name changed to CSP Associates
CSP broadens its advisory roles to include aviation, defense and government sectors and expands its geographic footprint to include clients in Western Europe.
1990
CSP supports the first leveraged buyout of a U.S. defense contractor
CSP participates in the earliest defense sector private equity investments by The Carlyle Group and other sponsors and is frequently engaged by senior financing sources to support credit commitments to underwrite PE-sponsored ADG transactions.
